Scripture: Matthew 13:1-3
This week’s Scripture readings will focus on stories: Jesus telling stories, our own stories, and those of God woven together with the stories of God’s people. The readings will also help you look at sharing your faith and what shapes our stories as we move forward. This week, you will find resources and activities that invite you to engage with God’s stories and tell your own. The weaving of these creates our faith tapestry filled with vibrant colors. Listen to the stories in Scripture, tell your own and be open to where the Holy Spirit is calling you to learn, grow, and share God’s love.
Everyone loves a story and Jesus was a master story storyteller, as he told and taught people through parables. Parables are stories used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. Today the scripture reading is the parable of the sower. Jesus teaches from a boat as a crowd has gathered on the beach. Before he begins the story, he says “Listen!,” don’t just hear what Jesus is saying, but pay attention and learn from what is being said. What is Jesus telling us in this story?
