Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:33
Gathering around something has been a tradition for humans for as long as we have existed. At first, there were fires where people gathered for warmth. Then, people began to tell stories and have s’mores around the fires. In more recent times, gathering around a table or a meal has become the modern equivalent. We eat, we drink, we tell our stories. Many churches have altars which are tables designated with a particular purpose. We gather, and we tell our faith stories. We tie those faith stories to our own personal stories.
During this time, it may be hard or impossible to gather around the church table or even our personal tables with our family and friends. Even for those that can gather around their tables with loved ones, these are strange times that require new and different ways of being together. However, it is important that we still come together and share meals, to talk about our faith, and to share our personal stories. Because when we do these things, we are not just feeding our bodies, we are feeding our souls. During times like these, we need to regularly nourish ourselves. Today, have three square meals and remind yourselves of the stories that give meaning and shape to your life.
