Scripture: Matthew 28:1-10
“Be not afraid” shows up multiple times in the Bible, always spoken by a messenger of God. In the New Testament it is spoken by Jesus, especially after his resurrection, to disciples still frightened by what seemed to have been the tragedy of Good Friday. When the messenger (or Jesus) tells folks to cease their fear, the results are immediate calm and peace, no more fear.
We can’t be quite that effective, but we can help others when they feel afraid or threatened or alone. Think about times when you’ve been afraid; what was most helpful and calming to you? What small thing can you do to help others?
