Scripture: Psalm 130:5-7
Today’s psalm points us toward God’s transformative power over both individuals and communities. All of us are waiting for an end to the pandemic. In these verses we find assurance of God’s mercy. The watchman actively waits, keeping lookout for the dawn so that the daily offering could be made. We too must wait for an end to COVID-19 while acting in ways that keep others safer. God calls us personally to act. Then, in the final verse, we hear a word of hope for our society. God is our redeemer, the one who dismantles and transforms oppressive systems.
