Pray- July 3, 2020

Scripture: Matthew 22:17-22

Pray this prayer together:

Jesus, in times of uncertainty, we give in to our fear of scarcity instead of recognizing the abundance you promise. We hold on to what we think is ours and we resist sharing the gifts you have given us with others. In a world full of political rivalry and division, we take sides, dig our heels in, and close our hearts and minds to the experiences of others.

Open our hearts and minds so that we can see how you are calling us to act amidst the powers of government, corporations, and institutions as we proclaim you as Lord and ultimate authority over our lives. Help us see where and how you are calling us to act as we seek to make a difference. Help us remember that you call us to work with you and others, transforming the world around us.

Jesus, you are our savior and guide. We give thanks for all that you have given us. We commit to sharing our gifts with others. Shape our hearts so that we can be more generous and faithful. Amen.
