Pray- March 23, 2020

Scripture: Psalm 89:9

Pray this prayer together: O God of the ocean and of my heart, you hold the waves of my feelings in the palm of your hand. You are the God of Big feels and of holding me when I feel small. You know the depth of my emotions and all that bubbles up inside of me. Sometimes I remember that you and I are together, never apart; and other times I wonder where you are. Help me hold tight knowing that you are never far from me. You are as close as the air in my lungs and sure as the tide that pulls in and out again. You are the God of the raging sea and all that tosses and turns inside of me. Amen.

Wendy Claire Barrie

Wendy Claire Barrie writes about faith formation and parenting. She's the author of Faith at Home: A Handbook for Cautiously Christian Parents and is at work on a new book about intergenerational ministry called The Church Post-Sunday School. She haphazardly blogs at www.wendyclairebarrie.com. An editor at Church Publishing, Wendy has previously served seven Episcopal parishes in children, youth and family ministry since 1989. She is mostly famous for her brown-sugar chocolate-chip cookies and California-style tacos. She and her husband Phil Fox Rose are raising their teenage son in Brooklyn, where they also have a storage unit so as to avoid having to get rid of a single book.

Sharon Ely Pearson

Sharon Ely Pearson recently retired as Editor and Christian Formation Specialist

with Church Publishing Incorporated (CPI) with over 30+ years of experience in

Christian formation on the local, judicatory, and church-wide level. Known for her

knowledge of the variety of published curricula across the church, she has also had

her hand in the birthing of numerous books, including the best-seller, Call on Me: A

Prayer Book for Young People and the 6-book series of Faithful Celebrations: Making

Time for God. A graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary and a lifelong

Episcopalian, she lives in Norwalk, Connecticut with her husband John, a 17.5 lb. cat

named Shadow, and Chobe, a 7-year-old, tennis-ball-fetching, rescue black lab. They

have two adult children (both teachers) and a 5-year-old granddaughter who is a

Rachel Jones is the associate editor for Forward Movement. She and her husband live on a farm with a dog, too many cats, several rabbits, and a flock of very opinionated chickens.

KariAnn Lessner

KariAnn Lessner has led youth and children’s ministries in The Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Texas for over twenty years. Currently the Minister for Children and Families at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, she loves serving as a summer camp session director at Camp Allen and is a frequent speaker to women’s groups throughout Texas. In addition, she produces the podcast “You Brew You,” where she sits down with folks to share what God is brewing in their lives in the hopes that each person is infused with grace and courage by the other’s faith. She enjoys spending time with her family, hammocking, reading, and sipping sun tea in the great outdoors.

Kathy Graham

Kathy Graham is the Coordinator for Lifelong Christian Formation for the Diocese of Alabama. In her diocesan position, she serves as staff liaison for the diocesan Departments of Recovery Ministries, Liturgy and Music, Christian Formation, Altar Guild, Commission on Aging, and the Commission on Spirituality. Kathy is a Forma member and a former board member. She currently serves on the planning team for the Christian Formation conference at Kanuga Conference Center and was the coordinator of the 2017 conference. Kathy and her husband have three grown children , one grandson -18 months old - who will become a big brother in July.
