Scripture: Zechariah 4:1-14

The Hebrew Scriptures and the Christian Bible explain that God’s light shines through humans, when we are full of God’s love and peace and share that with other people.

Set a candle on the floor or table in front of each person (or, each person can hold a candle). The first person prays for another in the room - naming out loud when and how the light of God shines through them - and then lights the candle in front of the person for whom they prayed. The person with the newly lit candle then prays for someone else, naming out loud when and how the light of God shines through them, and then lights the candle in front of the person for whom they prayed. This continues until everyone has been prayed for and all the candles are lit. After all the candles are lit, say “Amen” and extinguish the candles together.
