Scripture: Matthew 5:23-24
Today’s Scripture focuses on restoration, reconciliation and relation. When we harbor ill-will toward another in God’s kingdom, it puts a road block between us and God. God emplores us not to allow that. God wants to be near us, not far. To do that, we need a clear path. We’ve learned from Jesus that there is one path to heaven - through him. One path. Not a road you can maneuver and steer around in multiple ways. One way. That way is Jesus. To be near to Jesus, we need to be near those he loves. How do we do that? Especially lately! One way to connect is through church, through a shared faith that calls us together. Our common faith teaches us to pray. In praying, we’re seeking and in seeking, we find.
Our prayer activity today involves walking. In the spirit of taking steps on a path, the prayer practice today asks you to walk and talk to God. It’s an old practice to walk the Labyrinth. While there may not be a Labyrinth path near you, you can still walk along a path with a purpose and pray along the way. Choose a path. Then, as you walk slowly through any twists and turns, listen for an answer. Let your steps and your silence invite the presence of God. As you walk, visualize your sins being left behind with every step you take. Give thanks along the way for your journey to closeness with Christ. Lay your burdens down, pause and thank God for taking your burdens for you. Pray as you walk and complete your path with purpose.
